DISCLAIMER: This story and video chronicle an accident SIMULATION that was part of the “Every 15 Minutes” program, which occurred on campus Thursday March 22 and Friday March 23, 2018. The events seen are NOT REAL.

Due to inclement weather, the originally planned car crash event that was to occur in real time in front of a live audience and be streamed live into junior and senior classes had to be cancelled on Wednesday evening.  This left organizers and first responders scrambling to put together a modified version of the crash that could be filmed and used to tell a cohesive story for the memorial service video.  Mark Hajewski’s Advanced Multimedia class spent second period filming the staged car crash while students acted out their parts. What follows is a slideshow that tells the story of the crash.

Here is the Back Story for the Car Crash Scene…

On March 22, a fatal head-on car collision occurred on campus involving five students. The Roseville Police department determined that the accident was drunk-driving related and announced that after an on scene sobriety test senior Megan Canchola was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.  Senior Jacob Rotheram, who was driving the other vehicle, died immediately on the scene.   Junior Katie Klein and senior Hope Jbeily were rushed to the hospital, where they later passed away after sustaining severe injuries.  Junior Trevor Hilton, who was seated in the back seat of Rotheram’s vehicle, survived the crash with a concussion.

Woodcreek students remain deeply affected by today’s events and are grieving the loss of their fellow classmates.  A makeshift memorial site sits in the quad to honor the lost.  An on campus memorial service has been schedule for 11 am tomorrow morning.
