A note from Coach Brad Hunkins

We started an event the last 3 years (I am sure it has been around longer than that) that has really morphed into something very cool and exciting for our kids. All spring our kids get here between 7 and 7:30 am and workout during our first period football class.  This spring they have completed over 7,000 reps between lifts such as the clean, squat, bench, snatch and variations thereof. We do 3 max testing dates during the term – the first in January, the second at or near spring break, and the final one begins next week on Thursday May 17

Our Lift-a-Thon originated as one of the many fundraisers we run. The last 3 years we have livestreamed the event via NFHS Network with the help of the gifted and talented Mark Hajewski and done giveaways at the event, which we continued  this year.

I know that all of our students work hard and do amazing things; but this event is unlike anything else in athletics with an amazing atmosphere and kids literally pushing themselves to their physical limit. It really is a great time to come watch the boys cap the last 18 weeks of lifting and hard work.  The last few years some of our athletes have broken the 300 lbmark – Matt Miclat in 2016 at 300 lb and Peyton Elmendorf in 2017 at 310 lb.

Here is the LINK to last night’s broadcast of the Woodcreek Lift-a-Thon.

Watch these young men demonstrate what hard work and dedication looks like. They are the future of Woodcreek Football. Go Creek!
