Since 2007 at Woodcreek, the school has raised awareness for breast cancer in basketball games by rallying students together for the Pink Zone to acknowledge the widespread disease, as one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. The most common cancer among women, students wear pink to support the universal symbol of breast cancer awareness, specifically for many of us who have been personally affected in any form by cancer. Speakers from the community attribute to the fight to end its spread, and help show how easy it is to donate and eliminate breast cancer for years to come. The proceeds raised help support foundations like the Placer County Breast Cancer Endowment, which contribute to the 2.8 million breast cancer survivors today.
