The basketball season has begun, and the varsity teams are starting off strong. Last year, both the girls and the boys basketball teams made it to the Sac-Joaquin Division I playoffs. This year, both teams hope to secure a spot in the postseason, beginning the season with more wins than losses. Of course, there are still many weeks left until the playoff teams will be determined, but the strong start inspires hope that the teams will go far during the 2016-2017 basketball season.

The Woodcreek boys varsity team faced off against Monterey Trail for their first home game of the pre-season. They won with an easy 74-27. The Woodcreek girls varsity team placed 2nd in the Placer Tourney, winning against Union Mine and Del Campo. The boys varsity team is currently undefeated, with a 7-0 win streak. Player Jordan Brown helped the team with an astounding average of 30 points per game and 22 rebound per game. Both teams have begun the season with great wins, and we can only wait to see what the teams will accomplish throughout the season.

You can watch both varsity teams in their first home game of the regular season on January 6, where the teams will be playing against Nevada Union.
