Nadia Ansari, Editor-In-Cheif

On the week of October 1st 2018, Woodcreek Senior Curtis Ostrander has been selected as athlete of the week. He was selected by our high school by leading the varsity boys during the Sierra Shootout Championship last month which had 64 different high school water polo teams.

I had the opportunity to ask Curtis a few questions regarding his Water polo career and the season so far.

How does it feel to be athlete of the week?

C:It feels great being able to represent my sport.

What position do you play in water polo? And how long have you played?

C: I mostly play on the 1-2 side for water polo, and I have been playing for about seven years now.

What is the best part about water polo so far this season? And what has been the biggest challenge?

C: The best part so far has been enjoying the relationship that comes with the team, and the biggest challenge is trying to get everyone to remain on the same page

Can you describe how you felt when Woodcreek won the Sierra Shootout?

C: I was torn because we could have played better but it was amazing having all those guys behind my back and It was just incredible.

Do you plan on playing water polo in college?

C: Yes.

For anybody interested in playing water polo, what is one piece of advice you would give them?

C: Playing water polo is more than a sport, it’s family. You learn more about your teammates than anyone will.

Make sure to check out Boy’s and Girl’s water polo  (JV/V) on October 11th as they take on Inderkum High here at Woodcreek!
