Cross Country runner Angela DiPentino was picked as the Athlete of the Week, recognized for her amazing 2016 season. Angela placed 2nd out of 226 runners at the Stanford Invitational, beating the school record with a time of 18:07. She broke another school record with a time of 18:16 at the Clovis Invitational. Angela thought that “It was cool to be recognized,” with being picked Athlete of the Week at Woodcreek.

Angela’s favorite moment of the season was winning league as a team. Individually, she enjoyed, “Getting public relations (PRs) as a senior. It’s really hard to improve every year so it is nice end [her career as a Woodcreek cross country runner] getting some good times.” Especially since her junior year Angela struggled with injury, “This year I’ve focused on injury prevention and it has really helped with my season,” said DiPentino. When asked about her Woodcreek legacy as a cross country runner, Angela replied, “I’m trying to get one of the runs we do named after me but it hasn’t caught on yet.”

Angela’s strategy for being the best she can be is to “… make sure to push myself every practice to get the most out of the workouts.” For any aspiring cross country runners who wish to improve their running times. Angela leaves some advice, “The majority of racing is mental so it’s just as important to be mentally prepared with a strategy as it is to be physically prepared.” Congratulations, Angela DiPentino!
