On Wednesday, May 13th, Woodcreek High School’s Guitar students and their humorous teacher, John Harmon, performed a delightful spring concert. With great selections of music,  the beginning class did very well. Harmon was funny and kind, like he usually is and a few famous songs that he loves were played.

The students in the guitar program had started practicing two weeks in advance to prepare for the show. Harmon separated them into three groups: melody, chords, and bass. Since some of the students had never even touched a guitar before taking this class, Harmon chose simple songs that are easy to learn and perform. The guitar program has affected students in many positive ways especially sophomore, Emily Delos Santos, a beginner who stated,

“It made me want to join commercial guitar, and continue on playing in concerts and such. The reason I wanted to join guitar in the first place was because I loved music and this just expanded my love.”

The second guitar show, on Thursday, was the first alumni concert, a show that has never  before been performed here at Woodcreek. The songs were pretty good, and the advanced musicians were quite entertaining. Although I do feel like it could have been a little more special, the performances were little gems. I would go to another show in the future, and it was definitely a noteworthy experience.
